UN accuses China of abuses, Beijing dismisses as “Biggest Lie”

Australia, the U.S., and 13 other nations criticized China during a UN session, accusing it of human rights violations in Xinjiang and Tibet.

The UN previously reported that China’s arbitrary detention in Xinjiang may amount to crimes against humanity. Australia’s UN Ambassador, James Larsen, urged China to release all arbitrarily detained individuals and clarify the fate of missing families.

China, however, denied the accusations, with its UN Ambassador Fu Cong accusing Western nations of fabricating “lies” and shifting attention away from the crisis in Gaza. Fu argued that the human rights situation requiring the most attention is in Gaza, where the Western focus on Xinjiang distorts facts.
