Activists say Taliban’s ban on girls’ education is a “Crime Against Humanity”

Afghan activists have strongly condemned the Taliban’s continued ban on girls’ education beyond the sixth grade, calling it one of the gravest human rights violations.

Since the Taliban regained control in August 2021, Afghanistan remains the only country in the world where girls are deprived of their right to education.

Activists argue that the ban, rooted in the Taliban’s strict interpretation of Islamic law, pushes girls into poverty and limits their opportunities, jeopardizing Afghanistan’s societal stability and economic future.

They urge the international community to intervene and support Afghan women in their fight for education.
