SRW condemns terrorist attack targeting Shia pilgrims in Afghanistan
Shia Rights Watch (SRW), a pro-Shia rights organization, has condemned the terrorist attack that targeted a group of Shia pilgrims returning from the holy city of Karbala after performing the Holy Arbaeen Pilgrimage and visiting the holy shrine of Imam Ali on the Holy Prophet’s martyrdom, peace be upon them.
In a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, the organization confirmed that terrorists affiliated with ISIS committed a heinous crime against innocent civilians in a remote village in Afghanistan, resulting in the martyrdom of 14 people and the injury of four others.
SRW explained that the terrorist attack targeted the residents of the mountainous village of “Qariyodal” as they were welcoming a group of pilgrims returning from Holy Karbala, following the Holy Arbaeen of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
The terrorist group released a video documenting the killing of the defenseless pilgrims after they were captured and stripped of their belongings.
Shia Rights Watch strongly condemned this cowardly terrorist act and held the Taliban authorities legally and morally responsible for the protection of Shia Muslims, calling for urgent measures to safeguard civilians from the ongoing attacks against Shia communities in Afghanistan.
