First “BRICS” Holy Quran Recitation Award launched in Russia

The Russian city of Kazan hosted the first edition of the BRICS Quran Recitation Award on Thursday, with the participation of reciters from 20 countries, including BRICS member states, as well as representatives from the Arab world, Africa, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

This competition comes as an initiative to enhance cultural and religious cooperation among the participating countries. Rashan Abyasov, Deputy Head of the Religious Administration of Muslims of Russia, said in a press statement followed by Shia Waves Agency, that this competition is the first of its kind and is scheduled to be held annually starting from this year.

Abyasov added that the competition provides a unique platform to showcase talents in Quran recitation and promote cultural exchange between countries, adding that the first edition of this competition saw wide participation from reciters and competitors from various countries, each representing their nation with confidence and pride, reflecting the cultural and religious diversity embraced by this competition.

The BRICS Organization is an economic bloc that currently includes 10 countries, including Russia, Brazil, and China, and aims to enhance economic and political cooperation among its members.
