Iraq repatriates 157 IS families from al-Hol camp in northeastern Syria
The Iraqi government has repatriated 157 families, totaling 625 individuals, from al-Hol camp in northeastern Syria, which accomedateds family members of IS-linked fighters.
The spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Migration, Ali Abbas, stated, “157 Iraqi families were repatriated from a-Hol camp (625 individuals),” and upon their arrival, these individuals will have to spend weeks or months in the Iraqi Jadaa camp before being allowed to return to their original areas.
On March 2, the Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji announced that Iraq has repatriated “1924 families from al-Hol camp, totaling 7556 Iraqi citizens so far,” adding that “1230 families have voluntarily returned to their original areas, while the remaining are being rehabilitated in the Jadaa camp.”
Al-Hol camp accommodates over 43,000 people, including Syrians, Iraqis, and foreigners from around 45 other countries, all of whom are families of ISIS terrorist fighters.
