UN calls on Myanmar to stop persecution against Rohingya Muslims

The United Nations Human Rights Council adopted a resolution condemning grave violations and the absence of the rule of law in Myanmar, and calling for an immediate end to all forms of violence, protection of civilians and respect for human rights.

The resolution condemned the violations against minorities in Myanmar, especially the Rohingya Muslims, who became stateless through the Citizenship Law issued in 1982, and deprived them of all their rights.

The resolution affirmed the responsibility of the Myanmar army to ensure the protection of human rights for all, including racial, ethnic and religious minorities, including the Rohingya, calling for an investigation into the violations and international crimes committed against them, and ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable and victims are redressed.
