Grand Ayatollah Shirazi: Competition in Good Deeds is Commendable According to the Quran

Another daily scholarly meeting led by Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadiq Hosseini Shirazi took place on Thursday, the 15th of Rajab, 1446. During this session, as in previous meetings, the Supreme Marja addressed attendees’ questions on various jurisprudential issues.

In reference to verse 26 of Surah Al-Mutaffifin, where people are encouraged to compete for blessings, Grand Ayatollah Shirazi stated that “competition” here refers to rivalry and striving for excellence.

His Eminence further emphasized that competition in good deeds is commendable. For instance, he noted, it is praiseworthy if one charitable organization competes with another in performing acts of kindness.
