Grand Ayatollah Shirazi highlights pivotal role of scholars in shaping history and guiding nations
The Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq Al-Husseini Al-Shirazi, emphasized the pivotal role of scholars in shaping history and guiding nations. His Eminence stated that knowledge is a powerful force, surpassing wealth, power, and other human influences in its impact.
The Grand Marja highlighted that the status of scholars comes directly after the Imams of Guidance, who represent the highest moral and historical standards, stressing that righteous scholars contribute to reforming nations and history, while corrupt scholars fall to levels akin to Iblis, Pharaoh, and Nimrod due to their negative influence, which can lead entire nations into corruption and deviation.
He explained that, “scholars serve as role models for society. When a scholar is righteous, virtue and humanity prevail in the community. Conversely, when a scholar is corrupt, it results in societal decline, injustice, and the squandering of resources”.
The Supreme Religious Authority further noted that the influence of scholars extends beyond knowledge to include ethical and human values that shape society’s direction, calling on righteous scholars to bear the heavy responsibility of carrying the banner of reform and hope for nations in building a better future.
His Eminence concluded his speech by underscoring the need for scholars to uphold high levels of moral and scientific responsibility, as their actions and stances significantly affect the trajectory of their communities, leading them either to progress and prosperity or to decline and corruption.
