The Muslim World League has strongly condemned an armed attack targeting a funeral ceremony at Hamoud Church in the Karak region of southern Jordan, expressing solidarity with Jordan and condolences to the victims’ families.

According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the league’s secretary-general, Sheikh Mohammed Al-Issa, reiterated the organization’s rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism, regardless of their motives. Jordan’s King Abdullah II vowed severe penalties for those responsible, while religious leaders emphasized that terrorism targets both Muslims and Christians.

Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine also condemned the attack and expressed support for Jordan. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi offered condolences to King Abdullah II and the Jordanian people, while Iraq’s Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein conveyed solidarity during a telephone call with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi.

Jordan’s Grand Mufti Ahmed al-Hassanat, Al-Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb and other regional leaders stressed that attacks on places of worship and funeral ceremonies violate human values and threaten peaceful coexistence. They called for unity in confronting terrorism and preventing attempts to divide Jordanian society.
