Grand Ayatollah Shirazi urges modeling human behavior of Infallibles, portraying historical events by artists in annual speech
The annual speeches delivered by Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadegh al-Hosseini al-Shirazi ahead of Muharram, on Ashura Night, and on the occasion of the martyrdom of the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him and his pure family, contained important points as well as instructive anecdotes from the lives of the 14 immaculate Infallibles, peace be upon them.
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi narrated the story of al-Hurr’s entry into the land of Karbala and how Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) dealt with his troops, and the sacrifice Imam made by giving water to the people under his command and even their horses, which meant that Imam Hussein camp’s supply of water ran out later on, leaving them in dire thirst in the last days.
The Marja emphasized that if this kind of unique and human behavior, which is unparalleled in the history of mankind, is portrayed by artists, it will shake the world.
On the martyrdom anniversary of the Messenger of God, peace be upon him and his family, the Supreme Religious Authority mentioned a narration from Imam Baqir, peace be upon him, and said: “One of the hypocrites among the companions attacked, without the permission of the Prophet, a group of Jews who were not at war with the Muslims, killed some of them, and looted their property. The Holy Prophet severely condemned his actions, and then asked Amir al-Mu’minin to take action to compensate for the damages and gain the satisfaction of the victims. Amir al-Mu’minin obeyed the order of the Messenger of God, and left for that tribe with a large amount of gold.”
He went on to say: It is mentioned in the narration that Amir al-Mu’minin Ali, peace be upon him, paid the blood money of those killed, paid for the miscarried fetuses, compensated for the animals killed and even for unworthy properties damaged or lost during the attack. He also paid for the screams of frightened women and children who were scared by the attack.
It should be mentioned that the important directive of Grand Ayatollah Shirazi to the rulers and the people regarding the humane and unique behavior of the immaculate Infallibles, peace be upon them, is to follow the example of these noble figures and to model their behavior to the extent possible for ordinary people.
As for artists and experts, his Eminence urged them to depict such beautiful scenes from the lives of Ahlul-Bayt in the language of film and art. We ask Almighty Allah to grant Tawfiq to everyone in pursuit of these directives.
