Nearly 200 news agencies, 900 journalists covered Muharram ceremonies in Iraq

The Iraqi Communication and Media Commission has announced that nearly 200 media agencies covered the mourning ceremonies and processions during the first ten days of the holy month of Muharram.

The head of the commission said in a statement received by Shia Waves Agency, that “According to official statistics, 189 media agencies and 890 journalists participated in covering the Husseini rituals during the first ten days of Muharram.”

He added that, “21 SNG vehicles (Satellite News Gathering) 43 professional live-broadcasting equipment were used in live coverage of the Ashura mourning activities”, noting that, “97 of the journalists who covered the Muharram mourning ceremonies were from foreign news agencies.”
