Ahead of Arba’een Pilgrimage, Iraqi Ministry of Interior finalizes security plans

The Iraqi Minister of Interior, Abdul Ameer Al-Shammari, has confirmed that a wide-scale security plan was finalized to secure the road between the capital, Baghdad, and the Holy City of Karbala in preparation for the coming Arba’een Pilgrimage.

A statement released by the Ministry of Interior and seen by Shia Waves Agency, said that, “The Minister of Interior – head of the top security committee for securing the Arbaeen Pilgrimage – has personally supervised the preparations on the Baghdad-Karbala Road, to ensure full implementation for the security plan.”

The statement added that, “The Ministery of Construction and Housing is working to open a ring road to reduce traffic congestion and to facilitate movement of pilgrims.”

It should be mentioned that millions of pilgrims converge on the Holy City of Karbala from different Iraqi provinces and other foreign countries to perform pilgrimage to Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
