Najaf police unveil security plan for Imam Ali’s martyrdom anniversary

Najaf Police Command has announced a comprehensive security and service plan for the anniversary of Imam Ali’s martyrdom, which attracts millions of pilgrims, local news outlets reported.
Police spokesperson Colonel Mufid Salem Al-Tahir stated that, under Interior Ministry directives, the plan ensures safety around the shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), Kufa Mosque, and other religious sites. Security, intelligence, and surveillance units are fully mobilized, with preemptive operations in Najaf’s desert to secure the area.
The city is divided into security zones under senior officers, with operations rooms set up in the old city and Kufa. Authorities confirms they will facilitate pilgrim access to the shrine and ensure smooth departures. Roads to Najaf will remain open, with police deploying advanced security measures to safeguard visitors.
