Pakistani journalist: Shias in Pakistan are marginalized and subject to racial discrimination

The Pakistani journalist, Faizan Redha, said, today Monday, that Shia Muslims are subjected to systematic oppression as other minorities in Pakistan, calling on the government to support its religious minorities.

In an article published on “The Nation” newspaper and was obtained by Shia Waves Agency, Redha mentioned that, “Pakistan has become a Sunni-dominated state, however; the Shia followers of AhlulBayt, peace be upon them, unfortunately considered second-class citizens.”

He continued that, “Shia Muslims are facing racism and discrimination whenever they practice their religious rituals and exercise their belief. For instance, the Hazara community in Quetta in particular, and the Shias in general are socially marginalized within their country.”

The journalist warned that, “This state of intolerance towards diversity had serious consequences; but we haven’t learnt from the past catastrophic experiences.”
