Shia Muslims commemorate first Night of Qadr, wounding anniversary of Imam Ali

Believers across the Islamic world commemorated the wounding anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him), which observed on the night of the 19th of Holy Ramadan. Mourning ceremonies and gatherings are being held in holy shrines, mosques, and Husayniyyas.
Amid an atmosphere of grief, Shia Muslims continue their religious observances while marking the first Night of Qadr—a spiritually significant occasion dedicated to seeking forgiveness and supplicating to God Almighty. The night is filled with prayers, Quranic recitations, and the ritual of raising the Holy Quran, as visitors beseech divine mercy and salvation from the fire.
Holy shrines, including the sacred Alawi Shrine in Najaf, the shrines of Imam Hussein and Al-Abbas in Karbala, and the other sites of the Ahlulbayt (peace be upon them) worldwide, are witnessing an outpouring of faith and devotion. Large crowds of pilgrims have gathered to observe this momentous occasion.
Religious scholars and preachers emphasize in their sermons the significance of this anniversary and the importance of following Imam Ali’s (peace be upon him) exemplary life—especially in upholding justice, faith, and piety. They also urge believers to make the most of the blessed Nights of Qadr through prayer and worship, seeking divine acceptance and mercy.
