Pakistan: Shia scholars in Multan demand dismissal of charges against Arbaeen procession organizers

Shia scholars in the city of Multan, Pakistan, held a meeting to condemn the fabricated charges brought against the organizers of the Holy Arba’een procession in the city.

During the conference, the scholars strongly criticized the unjustified interference by local authorities, who obstructed the march and assaulted participants, particularly women.

The participants in the conference, which included prominent leaders from the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, the Shia Scholars’ Council, and the Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan, emphasized that authorities had falsely charged the procession organizers with theft and robbery in an attempt to hinder their religious rituals.

They stressed that these repressive actions reflect the confusion within the authorities and accused them of attempting to impose restrictions on their religious rights, demanding the dismissal of all charges against the organizers of the Arbaeen procession, warning that protests would escalate if the authorities did not comply with their demands.
