Shia mourners in Holy Samarra hold symbolic funeral procession to commemorate Holy Prophet’s martyrdom
The Askariyayn Holy Shrine in Holy Samarra, Iraq, held a symbolic funeral procession for the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him and his family, on the anniversary of his sorrowful martyrdom, amid participation from the city’s residents and pilgrims.
Shia Waves correspondent reported that the procession organized by the Holy Shrine saw a significant turnout of mourners who started from the House of the Imam of the Time, may Allah Almighty hasten his reappearance, within the holy shrine, to offer their condolences on this sorrowful occasion.
The mourners accompanied the symbolic coffin of the Holy Prophet, raising banners of sorrow and grief over the loss of their great Prophet, chanting “O Muhammad!” to express their pain and loyalty.
In its statement, the Secretariat-General of the Holy Shrine extended condolences to Imam al-Mahdi, may Allah Almighty hasten his reappearance, the supreme religious authorities, and the Islamic nation on this significant occasion.
The statement emphasized that this tragedy represents the greatest calamity for the Islamic nation with the loss of the Prophet who was sent by Allah as a savior for humanity and a guide for mankind.
The shrine also announced that it had prepared special mourning and service programs to receive the crowds of mourners and to commemorate this painful occasion, praying that Allah bestows His mercy and forgiveness upon the nation.
