About 1,000 Afghan pilgrims begin pilgrimage from Kabul towards Holy Karbala
A group of about 1,000 pilgrims has departed from the Afghan capital, Kabul, on a pilgrimage to Iraq to participate in the Holy Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
This pilgrimage is the first of its kind from Afghanistan, with pilgrims from various Afghan cities, including Kabul and the Kandahar region, traveling through Iran on their way to the holy city of Karbala.
The participants in the began their spiritual journey from Kabul, passing through Herat, where they were warmly welcomed by the city’s residents.
The people of Herat offered various forms of support and logistical services to ensure the pilgrims’ comfort during their journey. A special reception activity was organized at the “Mohammadiyah Jaghariyah” Mosque in Herat, where locals gathered to provide meals, drinks, and resting places before the group continued on its way.

The Arbaeen Pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, as millions of Muslims from across the globe converge on the holy city of Karbala on the 20th of Safar to commemorate the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein and his family members and honourable companions.
