Grand Ayatollah Shirazi reiterates calls to believers to continue pilgrimage to Imam Hussein
As part of his statements titled ‘Characteristics and Virtues of the Pilgrimage to Imam Hussein’, the Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, has reiterated the importance of making a continuous pilgrimage to Imam Hussein, peace be upon him.
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi pointed out that in the past, pilgrims faced severe forms of torture and even death in prisons. The Abbasid Caliph Al-Mutawakkil even ordered the cutting off of the hands and feet of pilgrims.
Despite these brutal acts by oppressive rulers, the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, continued to encourage people to visit Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, without fear of these criminal practices.
In this context, the Supreme Religious Authority cited what Allama Amini mentioned in his commentary on the book “Kamil Al-Ziyarat,” where he stated, “If a traveler to the pilgrimage of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, is certain that he will be killed, his journey is still permissible.”
Grand Ayatollah Shirazi emphasized that this pilgrimage holds great virtues and characteristics, making it essential to continue honoring it, even in the most difficult circumstances.
