Fatal shooting leaves four Shias martyred, several others injured in Sultanate of Oman

On Tuesday, the Omani police announced that 4 people were martyred and several others were injured in a shooting in the vicinity of a Shia mosque in the Wadi al-Kabir area of the Sultanate of Oman.

Gunmen targeted the Imam Ali Mosque during a Husseini gathering commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, resulting in the martyrdom of four individuals and left several others injured.

According to local sources, the incident occurred near the mosque in the Al-Wadi Al-Kabir area. Video footage showed a car parked in front of the mosque’s gate with gunmen firing their machine guns intensively towards the mosque, where Shia mourners from the Pakistani community and several local residents were gathering.

This terrorist attack comes amid ongoing targeting of Hussainiyas and Husseini gatherings, raising concerns about the recurrence of such incidents in the future. Omani authorities have affirmed their commitment to pursuing the perpetrators and bringing them to justice to ensure the security and safety of the citizens.
