Mourning, service Mawakib registered officially in holy Karbala
On Tuesday, the Department of Rituals and Mawakib at al-Abbas and Imam Hussein Shrines announced that it has registered 12,752 mourning and service mawakib that are participating in the festival of Arbaeen pilgrimage.
“The Department of Husseini Rituals and Mawakib – in coordination with the relevant officials in the Karbala Province Police Command, the Command of Joint Operations, and the Security Management of the Two Holy Shrines – has established a joint command room in order to execute all necessary interactions and communications with the organizers of mawakib in the shortest possible time,” said the Head of this department in a statement followed by Shia Waves Agency.
Aqeel Abdul Hossein al-Yaseri further noted that this department started issuing legal guarantees exclusive to the owners of Hussainiyas and service mawakib from the 25th of Muharram till the 10th of Safar this year, registering a total of 12,752 mourning and service mawakib, with the registration process still going on.
His statement continues to mention that a special mechanism has been considered for interaction with and granting of permits to the Hussainiyas and mawakib that set up service tents in the streets and passages, which requires coordination with the Police Command of Karbala and the Security Management of the two Holy Shrines.
He emphasized that mawakib must be set up such that they do not hinder or impede the movement of the pilgrims as well as the vehicles that provide services to them.
“Issuance of guarantees, identity cards and licenses for mawakib is done through registration in the integrated database of mawakib organizers, which will be visible and available online to everyone, both inside and outside of Iraq,” al- Yaseri added.
The official also noted that: “All mawakib that refer to the Husseini Rituals and Mawakib Department and other competent authorities to register themselves and receive legal permits must comply with this protocol from now on.”
It should be noted that the mentioned statistics is only related to registered mawakib and the exact number of unregistered mawakib that are currently engaged in provision of services to pilgrims is not available. It is also important to point out that it is not necessary in Iraq to register and obtain a license for cultural and service activities performed in the form of mawakib.
