Imam Ali Holy Shrine unveils 800-year-old Mihrab after restoration process
Imam Ali Holy Shrine has unveiled an 800-year-old historical mihrab (Islamic Prayer Niche) after it was restored.
The head of the Architectural Heritage Unit at the Holy Shrine, Abdul Hadi Al-Ibrahimi, said that, “The historical mihrab of Al-Ras Al-Sharif Mosque dates back to the Mongol time, and was installed during the reign of Ata-Malik Juvayni, 800 years ago.”
Al-Ibrahimi added that, “This mihrab is considered the biggest and most luxurious in the world, and it contains unique inscriptions and brilliant colors.”
This miharb was unveiled coinciding with the celebrations of the Greatest Eid-ul-Ghadir in the Holy City of Najaf.
