New UN road map to support people of Afghanistan
On Monday, July 3, the United Nations published its strategic framework for Afghanistan in the period from 2023 to 2025.
The United Nations Deputy Mission in Afghanistan said that this document outlines the needs and rights of the most vulnerable people in society, including women, children, internally displaced persons, refugees, and ethnic and religious groups.
The United Nations and its partners acknowledge that humanitarian aid alone will not be sufficient to sustainably address the increasing plight of human suffering of the Afghan people in the medium and long term.
Since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, it has imposed severe restrictions against women in this country, including banning them from working in the offices of the United Nations and other international and domestic institutions.
UN officials have repeatedly emphasized that these restrictions affect the provision of humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan and have called for its cancellation.
According to UN statistics, 28.8 million people in Afghanistan need humanitarian aid.
In a new report, the United Nations World Food Program said that 3.2 million people, including children under the age of five, are malnourished in Afghanistan, and it is expected that between May and October of this year, up to 15.3 million people in this country will face severe food insecurity.
