Babiker Kulo, the commander of the local militia, said that, around 2 pm GMT, ISIS militants attacked the village of Filo, which is inhabited by livestock farmers, in Gubio district, Borno State, which resulted in the death of 59 people.

Kulo explained that “some of them were shot, while others were run over by the terrorists’ vehicles.

For his part, a local official in the village said to AFP that ISIS militants in West Africa launched the attack in revenge for the killing of their comrades at the hands of members of the militia charged with protecting the village’s livestock from theft.

“We have lost 59 of our relatives in this short time,” said the local official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The terrorists also stole more than 3000 cattle.
