The Samarra district administration, southeast of Tikrit, announced the reception of the first tourist trip by train in (10 years) coming from the capital, Baghdad, while it indicated that it is preparing to receive new trips from all governorates to visit holy religious shrines and archaeological sites.
“The city of Samarra received the first train carrying tourists after a 10-year hiatus for various reasons and circumstances,” noting that “the restoration of the railway line between Samarra and Baghdad has been completed”, said Samarra’s Mayor, Baker Mohammad Sahrif.
Sharif added, “The local administration has laid a security and service plans for the pigrims to perform pilgrimage and to tour historical locations.”
