Mayor of Holy Karbala says city needs quantum leap in public transportation system

The Mayor of Holy Karbala, Dr. Hussein Al-Mankoushi, stressed the city’s need for a comprehensive campaign in the field of public transport, to meet the needs of the millions of pilgrims who come on massive pilgrimages.

In a statement to Shia Waves Agency, Al-Mankoushi said: “Holy Karbala is in dire need of a quantum leap in the public transportation system, and there is a study on linking Holy Karbala with other provinces, to facilitate movement of massive pilgrimages.”

Al-Mankoushi proffered readiness to support the Mesbah Al-Hussein Foundation’s developmental project which aims to provide the necessary infrastructure to accommodate fifty million pilgrims in the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
