Texas’ Muslim community fundraise to help refugee families

Hundreds of people from North Texas’ Muslim community gathered over the weekend and raised tens of thousands of dollars that will help refugee families in the area with rent, food, clothing and necessities.

Zeenat Khan, founder of DFW Refugee Outreach Services, said the event was the first of its kind put on by the nonprofit organization.

 One of the goals, Khan said, was to reach out to Muslim communities outside of Dallas.
