Italian report on immigration reveals that Muslims represent over 29% of rest of foreigners in Italy
The new report on immigration prepared by ‘Caritas’ Organization and ‘Migrantes’ Foundation of the Italian Episcopal Conference, and presented in Rome on Friday October 7th, said that “taking into account the religious affiliation of the minors, it is estimated that foreign Muslim citizens residing in Italy until January 1 2022 has amounted to 1.5 million people, or 29.5% of the total number of foreign nationals, an increase compared to last year, when they were less than 1.4 million and by 27.1%.”
The 31st edition of the report stated, “Most of these immigrants are Moroccans, Albanians, Bengalis, Pakistanis, Senegalese, Egyptians and Tunisians.”
On the other hand, “the number of foreign Christian citizens residing in Italy decreased to less than 2.8 million, compared to about 2.9 million last year,” but “they were confirmed as an absolute majority among immigrants in terms of religious affiliation, although their percentage decreased from 56.2% to 53.0%.”
