Taliban bans teaching of Jafari jurisprudence at Bamiyan University

The Taliban movement issued instructions forbidding the teaching of Jafari jurisprudence at Bamiyan University in the Afghan Shia province of Bamiyan.

Muhammad Muhaqiq, head of the Islamic Unity Party, said that the Hanafi jurisprudence at Bamiyan University has replaced the Jafari jurisprudence.

Muhaqiq quoted local sources as saying that Taliban had issued instructions to replace the Jafari jurisprudence with the Hanafi jurisprudence in the Shia province of Bamiyan.

Taliban higher education officials have not yet commented on the issue, and it is not clear whether this decision was made only at Bamyan University or in all universities in the country.
