A British student was thrown in jail after calling for the “extermination of Muslims from the face of the earth” in a 17-minute clip on the social networking site Facebook, although he was released for the second time after his arrest despite being dangerous to society with extremist ideas.
He called the University of York St. John “Lewis Duxbury,” to “take up arms and kill Muslims”.
While presenting evidence at his trial last week, Duxbury, 22, claimed, according to the Daily Mail, that he was exercising his right to freedom of expression through communication platforms.
However, the jury found in York’s Crown Court yesterday that he was guilty of inciting religious hatred after only half an hour’s deliberations.
York judge Sean Morris released Duxbury, who is considered a danger to society with his extremist ideas, on bail until November 29. He warned that people who incite religious or racial hatred are creating big problems for their community that will be punishable by imprisonment.
Duxbury had a precedent of religious hatred and racist views when he was 15, and was arrested for his far-right ideas in 2015. He used to insult Islam and make “disgusting” comments.
