1,188 candles lit on birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance, in Karbala

On the occasion of Mid-Shabaan Visitation, which marks the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance, the Holy Shrines of Imam Hussain and al-Abbas held the 22nd annual Candlelight Festival, at the Site of Imam Al-Mahdi, peace be upon him, in the holy city of Karbala.
The head of the Central Committee for the Celebrations and Occasions of the Ahlulbayt, peace be upon them, Ali Kadhim Sultan, said that in the midst of a large crowd near the Site of Imam Mahdi in Karbala, 1,188 candles were lit representing the age of the Awaited Imam, Imam Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance.
The festival’s activities witnessed the participation of a variety of poets, including Alaa Al-Zubaidi, Muhammad Al-A’ajibi, Ghassan Al-Quraishi, Sayyid Hamoudi Asfour, Sayyid Ahmad Al-Mousawi, and Muhammad Jalawi.
