————————————–
Pope Leo XIV arrived in Montevideo on Friday, November 6, beginning an apostolic journey to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru that is scheduled to conclude on November 17. He was welcomed at an official ceremony in the Uruguayan capital, where he met President Yamandú Orsi and other government representatives.
According to the Vatican’s published itinerary, the Pope will visit ten cities across the three countries, including Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Lima, Chiclayo and Cusco. The journey also includes religious ceremonies, meetings with political and civil leaders, and visits to communities in the Andes and Amazon regions.
Peru holds particular significance for Leo XIV, who served there as a missionary and bishop for decades and acquired Peruvian citizenship.
The trip comes weeks after the Pope underwent surgery for lung cancer. Vatican officials said he was clinically fit to travel and confirmed that the schedule would proceed without changes. The journey is officially listed as running from November 6 to 17, spanning 12 calendar days.
