The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has highlighted the challenges facing women and girls in Afghanistan, emphasizing the importance of ensuring their access to healthcare services, nutritional support, vocational training and income-generating opportunities.

According to the organization’s official website, the ICRC supports vulnerable women through monthly cash assistance for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, free healthcare services at local clinics, vocational training programmes and interest-free loans. The organization reported that between June 2025 and July 2026, a total of 437 women and girls with disabilities benefited from vocational training, while 101 received loans to establish or expand small businesses.

Meanwhile, UNICEF, in a report published on November 2, 2026, identified restrictions on women’s movement and reduced opportunities for training female healthcare workers as factors contributing to difficulties in accessing healthcare services across Afghanistan.
