Parliamentary support to declare a “National Hijab Day” in the Philippines


The parliament of the Muslim-majority Bangsamaru region in the Philippines has announced its support for declaring a national day for the hijab at the region level.
The Parliament of the Autonomous Region of Bangsamaru passed a resolution requesting the National Parliament to approve the declaration of February 1 as a National Hijab Day.
The project aims to recognize the rights of Muslim women in the country and in compliance with the legal draft 8249.
Meanwhile, the deputy who presented the project, Benon Karon, said in her speech that the project aims to enhance mutual respect and preserve the faith, traditions, and rituals of each culture.
