Members of the British House of Lords meet with the Bahraini opposition

Members of the British House of Lords and politicians stressed the need for Boris Johnson’s government to pressure the Bahraini authorities to put an end to the repression against activists, and to emphasize the need to protect prisoners and detainees, especially in the notorious Joe Prison.
The European Center for Rights and Democracy organized an event through video call with Baroness Margaret Richie, a member of the British House of Lords, which focused on the outbreak of the Corona virus in Jaw Prison, and the human rights situation in Bahrain.
The event came in the context of efforts made by a number of human rights organizations to shed light on the human rights violations that prisoners of conscience in Bahrain are subjected to.
Baroness Ritchie stressed that the United Kingdom continues to absolutely support the people of Bahrain, especially the prisoners, who suffer violations and abuses of their basic rights.
A member of the House of Lords, which is the upper house of the British Parliament and is made up of nobles and eminent personalities, continued, “It is important for the world, including the United Kingdom, to help detainees and activists, and their case is adopted, and for the prisoners of Jaw Prison, to obtain medical care, including vaccinations, to protect them. “.
In the recent period, Western and international criticism of the violations committed by the Bahraini regime against the opponents and human rights violations has increased.
Human rights organizations and international bodies have condemned the abuses that Manama commits against its people, only because they expressed their opinion and practiced their rights.
