Doors of al-Kadhumain Holy Shrine reopen to pilgrims after one year closure
The General Secretariat of al-Kadhumain Holy Shrine has reopened the doors of the holy shrine to pilgrims after a one-year closure due to Covid-19.
The holy shrine in Kadhumiya, northern Baghdad, is the resting place of the 7th and 9th Imams, Imam Musa al-Kadhum and Imam Muhammad al-Jawad, peace be upon them, respectively.
Thousands of pilgrims visit the holy shrine and perform the recommended visitation daily.
The closure of the al-Kadhumain Holy Shrine, which came under the pretext of reconstruction, sparked a wave of widespread criticism from religious and popular figures calling for its reopening, stressing that all the holy shrines witnessed the organization of reconstruction works that were implemented in stages while providing space for the entry of pilgrims.
