United Nations says 2014 was a tragic year in Iraq

The United Nations considered 2014 in Iraq as a tragic year in every sense of what was accompanied by killing and displacement of all Iraqis at the hands of extremists who overran the country, calling for the formation of the National Guard and achieve national reconciliation as soon as possible to avoid more bloodshed.

The United Nations representative in Iraq, Nikolay Mladenov said during a speech in the dialogue among religions and sects Conference held in the capital, Baghdad that “Iraq has suffered over the past years from terrorism, which targeted all its components extensively, but 2014 was a tragic year for Iraq with distinction.”

The UN representative in Iraq called the government to speed up the formation of the National Guard, which will bring Sunnis to normal status and return all rights to achieve national reconciliation in its true form.”

The National Conference for Dialogue among religions and sects has been launched this morning in the presence of presidents, ministers and members of the parliament.
