The Twelver Shia Scholars Association in Kargil, Ladakh, India, is holding mourning ceremonies marking the martyrdom anniversary of Lady Fatima al-Zahra (peace be upon her), with the participation of religious scholars, preachers and large crowds of believers. The programme runs from 13 Jumada al-Awwal to 3 Jumada al-Thani at the association’s seminary in Kargil.

Scholars from across the region are delivering lectures on Lady Fatima’s life, virtues and historical role, highlighting her faith, patience and moral example. The talks also address the importance of mothers in raising children and passing religious and ethical values on to future generations. Special mourning gatherings for women are being held at Fatimiyyah Hall in Kargil.

The programme is scheduled to conclude on 3 Jumada al-Thani with a mourning procession, followed by an address from Hujjat al-Islam Sheikh Nazir Mahdi Muhammadi, head of the association. The ceremonies and processions will also be livestreamed on the association’s official YouTube channel to enable people unable to attend in person to participate remotely.
