The Islamic University of Uganda has signed a memorandum of understanding with Pakistan’s Darul Madinah International University to strengthen academic cooperation, exchange knowledge and expand collaboration in higher education and scientific research.
The agreement was announced by the Ugandan university on October 24, 2026, following a visit by a high-level Pakistani delegation led by Sheikh Javed Akhtar, president of Darul Madinah International University.
The signing followed a reception hosted by the leadership of the Islamic University of Uganda for the visiting delegation and a meeting with the university’s president. Discussions focused on opportunities for cooperation in higher education, scientific research, innovation and the development of Islamic studies.
The memorandum establishes a framework for academic collaboration and knowledge exchange between the two institutions, paving the way for potential joint initiatives to improve academic and institutional performance. The partnership also aims to promote Islamic values and intellectual development while strengthening educational and cultural ties between Uganda and Pakistan.
Founded in 1988, the Islamic University of Uganda continues to pursue international cooperation as part of its efforts to strengthen its academic presence and develop its educational and research institutions.
