A group of Shia religious scholars and Hazara community figures in Pakistan have voiced concern over reports of forced home evictions, land seizures and the confiscation of private property in Afghanistan. They have called on the Taliban authorities to address the reported cases, protect affected residents’ rights and resolve disputes involving homes, land and educational institutions.

According to Shafaqna Afghanistan, a delegation of Shia scholars and Hazara representatives met with Mawlawi Fazl al-Haq Shakir, the Taliban’s consul general in the Pakistani city of Quetta, to discuss concerns over residents’ living conditions and property rights in several Afghan regions.

The meeting addressed reported forced evictions in Nawababad, Ghazni province, as well as concerns involving the Green City area, known as Nabi Zada, and residents’ properties and shops in the Jibril area of Herat city. Participants also raised complaints about land seizures and alleged violations of private property rights.

The delegation further highlighted the reported closure of a school and a university in Afghanistan, warning of the potential consequences for residents’ educational opportunities and social well-being. It submitted a formal protest memorandum to the Taliban consul general outlining its concerns and calling for measures to safeguard homes, land and other private property.
