At least 7 killed in gunmen assault on church in Jordan

At least seven people have been killed, and 34 others wounded, in an attack in Jordan’s Karak governorate where gunmen opened fire during a funeral at a church.
Twenty-seven of the wounded are receiving treatment in hospitals, according to officials.
The search for the gunmen is ongoing, Al Jazeera reported.
Survivors said they heard an explosion when the funeral procession started, after which masked attackers broke into the church and began shooting for several minutes.
Without naming a specific group, Interior Minister Mazen al-Faraya told the press conference that the “terrorist” attack was “unprecedented” and was perpetrated by a group with “no relationship to humanity”.
This is not the first time that Karak has come under attack.
In 2016, a deadly ISIL (ISIS) assault saw a group of fighters hole up in a Crusader-era castle and kill 10 people, including security officers and a Canadian tourist. Jordanian security forces ultimately shot and killed the attackers.
