Maryland Mosque to Host Second Annual Open Day to Promote Understanding of Islam
————————
The Islamic Society of Western Maryland is preparing to host its second annual Mosque Open Day, inviting local residents to learn about Islam, observe Muslim prayers and explore the mosque’s role in community life.

According to a report published by The Herald-Mail on October 9, 2026, the event is scheduled for November 7, from noon to 2:30 p.m., at the mosque on Day Road in Hagerstown. The programme will include a guided tour, a presentation explaining the mosque and its features, and an opportunity for visitors to observe the Zuhr congregational prayer.

Organisers also plan to hold a question-and-answer session about Islamic beliefs and practices, giving non-Muslim visitors an opportunity to speak directly with members of the local Muslim community. Refreshments will be provided, and the event is open to the public.

The initiative aims to encourage dialogue, build relationships between Muslim residents and their neighbours, and help visitors gain a clearer understanding of Islamic worship and the mosque’s community activities.
