Canadian Muslim Association Calls for Action Over Alleged Anti-Muslim Posts by Conservative Campaign Director
—————————
The British Columbia Muslim Association (BCMA) has called on the provincial Conservative Party to take action against campaign director Katie Merrifield over social media posts it says contain anti-Muslim rhetoric. In a statement issued on October 11, the association alleged that Merrifield shared posts describing Islam as a “hateful ideology” and republished content making negative generalizations about Muslims.

The association urged the party leader to remove Merrifield from leadership and public-facing campaign roles, issue an apology to the Muslim community and introduce measures to prevent similar incidents. It also called on political parties to adopt clear policies against Islamophobia, antisemitism, racism and religious intolerance, emphasizing the need to protect equality and respect for religious diversity in Canadian public life.
