Yemen: Renewed Fighting Displaces More Than 122,000 People in Two Weeks

A new wave of military escalation in Yemen has displaced more than 122,000 people during the first half of September, worsening the humanitarian crisis facing millions of civilians, especially children.

The Executive Unit for Displaced Persons Camps reported that 17,852 families, totaling 122,297 people, were displaced between September 1 and 15 across eight provinces, with the largest movements recorded in Taiz and Lahj, particularly from areas along the western coast.

UNICEF warned that renewed hostilities are deepening the suffering of more than 12 million children in Yemen. The agency said more than 104,000 people, including over 57,000 children, were displaced within two weeks, while reports indicated that at least nine children were killed and 12 others injured.

Fighting has disrupted essential services, affecting healthcare and education facilities. UNICEF said 26 health facilities supported by the agency were impacted, while 243 schools were closed or suspended, affecting more than 137,000 students.

Humanitarian organizations called for urgent support to provide shelter, food, clean water, healthcare, and protection for displaced families, urging all parties to protect civilians and allow unhindered humanitarian access.
