Sudan: 1,150 People Displaced from North Darfur Villages Amid Escalating Insecurity

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported the displacement of approximately 1,150 people from several villages in Um Baru locality, North Darfur State, western Sudan, between October 29 and 31, amid deteriorating security conditions and ongoing violations linked to the conflict.
According to the organisation, residents of Mazbat, Urori, Tari and Um Haraz villages were forced to flee their homes in search of safety. Displaced families have moved to other areas within Um Baru, while others have crossed the border into neighbouring Chad.
The latest displacement highlights the worsening humanitarian situation in North Darfur, where continued military operations and security violations are forcing civilians to abandon their homes, livelihoods and sources of income.
The movement of families towards Chad has also raised concerns about the growing regional impact of Sudan’s conflict and increasing pressure on border communities.
