Free Muslim Organization Calls for Stronger Democracy, Culture of Nonviolence

The Global Organization for Nonviolence “Free Muslim” has called on governments and political authorities to uphold justice, equality, public participation, and respect for human rights, emphasizing that genuine democracy requires more than holding elections.

In a statement marking the International Day of Democracy on September 15, the organization said democratic governance should be based on the rule of law, protection of freedoms, equal opportunities, and the preservation of human dignity regardless of religious, ethnic, or ideological background.

The organization warned that the absence of effective democratic practices and the concentration of power can contribute to instability, conflict, poverty, and injustice. It urged authorities to protect freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and civic participation while addressing corruption and authoritarian practices.

The statement also highlighted the importance of promoting a culture of nonviolence and dialogue as essential tools for managing disagreements and achieving social reform.

The organization called on governments to review their policies, respond to public aspirations, and work toward building societies based on justice, equality, and fundamental freedoms.
