Israel Bombards Southern Lebanon with Phosphorus Shells, Conducts Airstrikes and Explosions
On Saturday, Israeli forces launched a series of airstrikes, artillery bombardments, and explosions targeting several areas in southern Lebanon, amid reports of the use of phosphorus shells, coinciding with the flight of drones over the southern suburb of Beirut.
The Lebanese National News Agency reported that Israeli warplanes carried out two airstrikes on the plateau of Ali Tahir at the northern outskirts of the town of Nabatieh Al-Fouqa, alongside powerful explosions in the towns of Kfartibnit, Arnoun, and Toulousa.
The agency added that Israeli artillery heavily bombarded the outskirts of the Doha Kfarreman area, the vicinity of Tallat Al-Debas, and the forest of Ali Tahir, using phosphorus shells, while military operations extended into areas in the districts of Nabatieh, Tyre, Bint Jbeil, and Marjayoun.
In the Tyre district, the village of Mansouri and the surroundings of the village of Biyout Al-Sayyad and the outskirts of Majdal Zoun were subjected to Israeli artillery shelling and extensive explosions early Saturday.
In the Bint Jbeil district, explosions occurred in the towns of Hadatha, Beit Yahoun, and Aita Al-Jabal, coinciding with sweeping operations using machine guns targeting the valleys and surrounding areas.
In a related context, Israeli warplanes launched two airstrikes on the area between the towns of Sarbine and Rshaf, while Israeli drones continued to fly over Lebanese airspace, including over the southern suburb of Beirut.
These developments occur amidst the ongoing field tensions in southern Lebanon and the increasing concerns over the implications of military operations for civilians and residential areas.
