The Holy Al-Askari Shrine in the city of Samarra witnessed the ceremony of raising the black banner of mourning on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him). The ceremony was attended by a large gathering of the shrine’s staff and the general mourning believers. The shrine announced through its official website that all preparations have been completed to welcome the millions of visitors coming from various cities of Iraq and beyond to commemorate this sorrowful occasion.

A statement issued by the shrine, details of which were reviewed by the “Shia News Agency,” revealed that symbols of mourning and black banners covered the corridors of the sacred Al-Askari shrine. These bore inscriptions expressing grief, in line with the mourning and service program prepared by the Al-Askari shrine to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him).

Several days prior, the service processions of Husseini began spreading along the various roads leading to the sacred shrine to offer their diverse services to the visitors arriving from all over Iraq. This included the “Husseini Friday Martyr” procession holding a massive mourning gathering at the Al-Askari shrine, along with a symbolic coffin procession, coinciding with the commemoration of this occasion.

Moreover, the holy city has witnessed a significant influx of visiting crowds for several days, as visitors arrive to offer condolences on this anniversary. The atmosphere of mourning was distinctly evident across all facilities of the Al-Askari shrine.

In response, numerous mosques and Husseiniyas across various Islamic countries announced the organization of special mourning programs in commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him), affirming the revival of these rituals and venerating the memory of the oppressed Imam and the Imams of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
