Samarra Welcomes Large Crowds of Arba’een Pilgrims Heading Toward Karbala

The holy city of Samarra has welcomed large numbers of pilgrims traveling toward Karbala to commemorate Arba’een of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), with visitors stopping at the shrine of Imam al-Askari (peace be upon him and his brother) to perform prayers and renew their spiritual commitment before continuing their journey.

The roads leading to the holy Al-Askari Shrine have witnessed a widespread presence of Husseini service processions, which continue to provide pilgrims with food, water, accommodation, medical assistance, and other essential services amid efforts to manage the increasing flow of visitors.

The Al-Askari Shrine administration has mobilized its human and logistical resources to support the reception of pilgrims and facilitate their movement, in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure suitable conditions for the religious occasion.

Samarra continues to serve as one of the key stations on the pilgrims’ route to Karbala, as visitors from across Iraq and abroad continue their journey to participate in Arba’een, one of the largest annual religious gatherings in the world.
