UN Warns Over 17 Million Afghans Face Severe Food Insecurity This Year
———————————–
The humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan has entered a more critical phase amid a sharp decline in aid funding, with more than 17.4 million people expected to face severe food insecurity and difficulty meeting basic living needs this year.
According to the Hasht-e Subh newspaper, citing the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, emergency food assistance remains the only lifeline for many families in Afghanistan.
However, only 17 percent of the funding required for humanitarian programs has been secured so far, creating serious challenges for relief operations and threatening the ability of aid agencies to respond to the growing crisis.
